The federal government took emergency steps over the weekend of March 10th to prevent a broader run on the banks after the sudden collapse of Silicon Valley Bank, the second largest bank failure in U.S. history, followed by the collapse of New York’s Signature Bank, which became the third largest bank failure in U.S. history.
